<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Thanks to a grant from <a href="https://www.extremeterrain.com/clean-trail-initiative-program.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ExtremeTerrain’s Clean Trail Grant Program</a>, Tregaron Conservancy volunteers removed invasive ground cover and added new native plants  along our trails this fall. The deeper roots of native plants help hold up the slopes and mitigate erosion of  our trails.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“We’re so grateful to have ExtremeTerrain as a partner in protecting and maintaining the health and beauty of our landscape,” said Lynn Parseghian, the Conservancy&#8217;s Executive Director. “We truly appreciate their commitment to supporting the integrity of parklands and helping us (and many other parks) leave the trails people enjoy better than they find them.” </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Conservancy&#8217;s immersive forest bathing program was highlighted in the January 2025 edition of the <em>Washingtonian</em> (in print and online). We&#8217;re thrilled to offer this wellness practice in our tranquil woodlands, in all seasons. We partner with several wonderful guides who lead our forest bathing programs, including author, naturalist and certified guide <a href="https://melaniechoukas-bradley.com/">Melanie Choukas-Bradley</a>, and certified guide and historic preservationist <a href="https://www.susanwestmontgomery.com/">Susan West Montgomery</a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In Dr. Leanna Wen&#8217;s <em>Washington Post</em> health column this week, renowned naturalist/author Melanie Choukas-Bradley named the Tregaron Conservancy is one of her &#8220;favorite places&#8221; in the DC area for forest bathing. &#8220;It&#8217;s a magical place&#8230;a wild garden with a pond with these wonderful bullfrogs who are always carrying on.&#8221; The column offers a variety of tips from Choukas-Bradley and others for forest bathing and other stress-relieving activities in nature.
