Stewarding and rehabilitating 13 acres of historic woodlands in NW Washington DC. Tregaron is open every day, dawn to dusk, free of charge.

Every spring and fall, Tregaron volunteers host students from our local elementary school for storytime and guided hikes. It means a lot to see the students delight in nature learning AND bringing it back to the classroom to create art and poetry! #naturelearning #outdoorclassroom #naturelovers #getoutside #lovetregaron

Today we`re celebrating the birthday of Ellen Biddle Shipman, 1869-1950. Shipman began her career rather late, but soon became known as "the dean of women landscape architects." She was part of the first generation of women to break into a largely male profession. Shipman lectured widely and ultimately designed over 600 gardens across the U.S. Tregaron (then The Causeway estate) was the largest of her "wild garden" designs, and it is the only one that is still open to the public. We draw inspiration from her design genius every day. #landscapearchitecture #gardendesign #landscapedesign #thisplacematters #lovetregaron

A birdwatcher looks to the treetops for resident and migrating birds. Are you a bird lover? Join filmmaker Cintia Cabib and Tregaron Conservancy at the Cleveland Park Library on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 2-3:00pm for a free screening of “Bird Walk.” The documentary film features the birds and birders that have flocked to RedGate Park in Rockville, Maryland, where 160+ species have been sighted, and follows the grassroots campaign which helped preserve this defunct golf course.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion with Cintia and Christine Powell, bird surveyor and volunteer landscape co-leader at Tregaron. Link to register in bio.
