“I Am Cleveland Park” Recounts Tregaron Fight

June 1, 2007

The successful fight to save Tregaron is featured in the new documentary, “I Am Cleveland Park,” which premiered before an SRO crowd at the May 31 annual meeting of the Cleveland Park Historical Society at the John Eaton School.  The film was produced by Cleveland Park neighbor Ruth Pollak and her company, the Educational Film Center, with Jim Lehrer as narrator.

The film traces the neighborhood’s history and its enduring record of community activism dedicated to preserving Cleveland Park as a rare green urban enclave with a small-town spirit.   Tregaron Conservancy Chair Bonnie LePard recounts the long campaign to stave off unsightly development at Tregaron and to create the new Conservancy as a wooded sanctuary in perpetuity for the community. For details on how to purchase a DVD of the film, please visit CPHS’s website at www.clevelandparkdc.org.
