Throughout the month of July, Tregaron hosted rising 7th, 8th and 9th grade students from DC Public Schools for clean-up, hiking, and outdoor learning. In this service learning program, a first for Tregaron, we partnered with the Horizons Greater Washington summer camp, which is held each year at Maret School (and other independent schools).
The students joined us three days a week, and performed a valuable service for the Conservancy by clearing storm debris and invasives along the trails. They also learned about our history, our landscape, and the various trades that are employed in our restoration and maintenance work. They were an energetic and curious group, and we were thrilled to have them with us this summer. Thank you Horizons!
