Tregaron Welcomes the Klingle Valley Trail

June 22, 2017

After two years of construction, the Klingle Valley Trail (KVT) — Tregaron’s immediate southeasterly neighbor — will be open to the public on Saturday, June 24. The Conservancy is delighted to welcome visitors from the new trail to Tregaron. Mayor Muriel Bowser will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the trail on the 24th at 3:00 p.m., and the Conservancy will be there to help celebrate this tremendous achievement!

Reconstructing Klingle Stream Headwall at Tregaron, 2017

Since the inception of the KVT project, Tregaron Conservancy has been working closely with the District, its contractors and other partners on tree protections and other construction planning, redesign of the Klingle Stream outfall, reconstruction of our historic stone headwall at Klingle Stream, native landscaping, and other site remediation work.

The Trail is a fitting neighbor and partner for the Conservancy; it is a remarkable achievement in green design and infrastructure, a place of great natural beauty, and will be a wonderful amenity for all to enjoy.

The Conservancy is delighted to welcome the trail’s visitors to Tregaron. Please note that our mulch trails are for pedestrians only, and dogs must be leashed. Bike racks are available in the pull-off areas adjacent to the two entrances to Tregaron from the new trail. In the coming months, we will be adding new maps and information about our the Conservancy’s history and mission at Tregaron’s two entrances.
