Ever since I moved to the DC area some time ago, Tregaron has been a place to immerse myself in nature and enjoy peace and solitude. It seems almost ironic to do this in the middle of an enormous city!
As a nature photographer, Tregaron has also been “my Yosemite.” Yes, it’s true. Every time I walk through the gate something is different: The light is constantly changing; brilliant colors and patterns are there as never before; and lively sounds of wildlife drown out the din of buses and trains in the near distance.
I lose all sense of time sitting on a bench overlooking an arena of rhododendrons, and am transported back to my youthful sense of wonder watching tadpoles transitioning into frogs in the lily pond. I’m grateful for it’s existence, and to the dedicated folks who restored and maintain this gem in our city.
